"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Hope

The world seems hopeless yet I have hope.  Below are a few scriptures about hope to share why I have hope.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; Titus 1:2

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;1 Peter 1:3

Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 1 Peter 1:21

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. Psalm 16:9

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Psalm 39:7

But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.Psalm 71:14

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: Psalm 78:7

Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.  Psalm 119:114

Pip

squeak.  Shorty.  Peanut and on and on.  As one that is not so tall, I have heard practically EVERY nickname one can come up with for a short person.  As a child in school, as lines were always from tallest to shortest, I was always last.  At graduation, I was last.  Being not so tall isn't a problem as it is all I know~but sometimes things crack me up so I thought using some memes I'd share a window to my world.
First off, 5'1" would be great! Second off, this is sooo
true.  I cannot see over  things or in crowds if I am not
front I walk away as I won't see it anyhow.

Yep.
I have solved this problem by using grill pinchers to
reach the stuff at the bottom of the washer.   If I am lazy
I'll launch myself up like in this photo, but the older I get
the less I wish to launch like this!

Once again, Yep!
In the house before the farm, I would lift one
of the four on the counter top to reach items in
the cupboards.  By the farmhouse I decided no
more.  I removed ALL the cabinets as I cannot
reach even the first shelf in them, so why have them?!?!

In the grocery, if Bill is not with me, I may end up
waiting in an aisle until a tall person comes along.
To all of you that have reached something from
an upper shelf in the stores for a short one...I thank you.
I hate asking but when I need something I ask!

Bill~You agree, right?
;)

Highlight on the not unusually.

For me this is the pain that I get in my thigh.  Since
we have these on our trucks, I do forget at times and create
a bruise.
Sigh.

Footstools are my favs and a funny thing happened to me at the DMV
in a previous state.  I was told to read the vision chart and I told the clerk
I can't.  She asked me if my vision was okay.  I told her it was fine, but
I still could not read the chart.  She asked me why, and I told her I cannot
see it as it is above my head!  So in the DMV with the entire area filled,
she came around the counter with a milk crate and had me stand on it so I
could see the vision chart!  I have never had that happen before or after this,
and I laughed as hard as those waiting in the lobby!

The last photo is my favorite and to my law enforcement family:

This is how things would be if I ever donned the uniform.

I'd be bold, yet one would still laugh.

For the record~kitchen chairs, the average couch, and most toilets are too tall for me and my legs dangle.  If I visit your house and say I'll stand don't take it personal.  At home, I have what I call my little people chairs which we found at a yard sale. I think that they were formal living room chairs for children~but I LOVE THEM.  I also have my chairs at the table.  They are normal for me so my feet don't dangle.

I am not a little person, but I am not close to the average height of women either.  I am in the no man zone of no official title yet obviously no title either.  Therefore my official title is Short to Bill's Tall.

As a disclaimer: I mean no disrespect to someone that may take offense to something I have shared.  I am making light of my life and the humor I find in a world that is not often geared for me.

Zoo Inspiration Part 1

I was taken in by the thoughtfulness of the design and such of the zoo in Albuquerque.  The zoo is called the Rio Grande Zoo.  Below are a few of the photos that I took that gave me inspiration.
I have to hand it to you, the rest areas for weary zoo visitors were
lovely.  This one is of a Mexican theme but there were many styles.

Here is another and it made me think that we could do this around
the original tree of the farm.  When we moved to the farm
it only had one tree on the property.  We now have 7 trees and 7
trees growing in pots to be transplanted some time in the future.

I enjoyed pretty much every where I looked. I have many ideas
for the farm from such simple touches that I saw.

I really like some of the boards with the information  about the
animals.  They weren't all the same. I liked this one and I am planning
a platter or something like it using this as inspiration.

I really liked this roof idea.  It really is a shade zone which is needed
in New Mexico.

I loved the bench.
No, the other one, on the right.  I am thinking we are going to
have a few like this near the farm firepit.

I also loved the lanterns along the walkways.
I enjoyed having the opportunity to see animals that I would never
see otherwise, but I also loved the attention to detail that those at the
zoo had when they were setting it up.  I have many more photos
and will post more to remind me of the ideas I am planning about the
farm.

Brunch Date

After the visit to the zoo, Bill planned a wonderful lunch excursion for Fourth and I.
The restaurant was a few minutes away from the zoo.  We found a
parking lot a block away and walked.  Albuquerque is a very
interesting city and this area of town is really charming.  I haven't
visited the entire city but the parts I have seen really keep my
head turning as I try and take in everything.

The restaurant that we went to was Tuscanos Brazilian Grill.
This is from the Tuscanos website:
We offer CHURRASCO (shoe-HAS-ko) style dining, where fresh meats and vegetables are grilled and brought directly to your table by our meat servers. While your Tucanos Cue remains green side up, our meat servers will continue to bring fresh selection of meats and vegetables to your table. When you have finished or would like a break, simply turn your Tucanos Cue red side up and our meat servers will skip your table. Tuscanos Brazilian Grill
I am not a meat eater or at least I eat very little meat~BUT~this place was amazing and I did eat several different types of beef and chicken.  The salad bar was delightful with a tropical flair and Bill, Fourth and I went back twice for more of the delicious food.

If you are fortunate enough to live near a Tuscanos Brazilian Grill I would highly recommend you stop in and enjoy the food~as we sure did.

Zoo Two

Two months ago Bill, Fourth and I went to the El Paso, Texas zoo. Yesterday we went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to the zoo there.   We had a lovely time and I am going to share some of the critters we saw at the zoo.  The weather was lovely as was the company.

I am thankful to be able to see animals that I would never see otherwise.

Making a plan of attack sightseeing.   These two crack me up.

The flamingos were beautiful.  The one directly in the center was
talking to me the entire time I stood there!

The polar bear.  There were two I believe but one was on the waterfall
and we could not see him.  The one in the photo was sleeping up on
the rocks.

Trails with poo

Trails from tails and poo from the roo's!

Oh the giraffes.  We were quite close to them  and it was amazing!

This little one played with the barrel in the water and finally pushed
the barrel out and ran about playing with the barrel.

Bill said he could ride a zebra.  So anyone that has a zebra and wishes
to donate it to the farm...

The rhino.  I loved this photo that was my first view of ever
of a rhino in such closeness.

Hippos.  You can't really see them, because I was watching them
for a while before I remembered the camera.  There was a baby
hippo in the water and it was  so interesting to watch.

I came around the corner and saw this sign.  I snapped a photo of it.

The gorillas were so large!  I missed taking too many photos of them as
well, as I was watching them.

The gorilla area was the most crowded(with people)
and I wonder if the sign about the throwing things was
the reason?!

The zoo was wonderful.  Not only did I enjoy the animals, but I loved watching the families with young children, and oh I loved how much thought and care went into the set up of the zoo.  Stay tuned to another post as to why I seemed to always make Bill turn around and wait a moment until I caught up!

Identity Crisis

Dear Bill,

I am so glad that you have returned from your training.  I cannot describe how it feels when you are away but I am going to try.  I am one person that has two heart-beats and needs to hear and feel both.   Yep. That is all.   Thanks for this moment of corny-romantic mushiness.  I know I rarely am this way!

Signed,
Short to your Tall

ps.  I love you to the moon and well to the moon.
pss.  I love you as a chip loves dip.
psss.  I love you as a moth loves a light.
pssss.  I love you as in Genesis 2:24
