"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Second is as amazing as the First!

Last night Third and his wife had their baby!  Bill and I are ever so pleased to share that we are grandparents once again.  Precious little grandson #2 arrived at 21:09 on October 15, 2015.
He shocked us a bit because we are so used to dark haired babies!

This one is a blondie and like Third he has curly. wavy hair.

We all were at the hospital waiting for this one and I am certain
that this type of gathering will not grow old.  We all joked that
we should name the waiting room something after us, because with
all the kids and their loves we had a full house.

Grandson #1 waited with us too!

Thank you Third and your sweet wife for this beautiful baby!

Stats:  8lbs 5 oz.
19.5 in long

A big shout out

Grandson #1 is still waiting to announce that he has a cousin.
Any day now Grandson #2 should be arriving!

County Fair 2015 # 3 Zebra Vase

Second's wife was my inspiration for the Zebra vase as she has so many zebra print items, and I wanted to make something for her.  I have never worked with ceramics before but I took a 3D class that had one section on ceramics and I ended up making three vases~One for Fourth, one for Second's wife, and one for Third's wife.
The Zebra vase received a first place ribbon and Reserve
Grand Champion.  The vase was hard to see while at
the fair as the ribbons kind of blocked the zebra.

I thought I would share the vase here.  I made the vase first
then slowly added the zebra having it wrap around completely.

I made his mane stick out off the vase!

I made his body completely.

I had a great time making the vase for
Second's Sweetie pie and gave it to her
today.  I am thankful that my daughter-in-law
really liked this vase,  as I wanted it to be
perfect, but~ I am so imperfect that it is hard to make
things perfect.  Instead I cherish the quirkiness that
has become my style!

Remember the

Sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Exodus 20:8

The sabbath day is the seventh day of the week.  I did not decide this, but our Father in Heaven did.  No matter how long I live, I will still be embarrassed with myself that I agreed with man and allowed a person to tell me God changed the sabbath day.

It is the only day He actually named.
It is the only commandment that tells us to remember.  Seems like God knew what man would do.
It is one of the few things that those that protested the Catholic Church and her teaching kept even though the Catholic Church acknowledges that the day was changed by her and NOT God.

Below are a few clip art images I have about the Sabbath.  I am in no measure trying to upset anyone or make anyone think I know better.  I am posting these because I believe that the Bible is a complete book that will guide us in Truth.  Man on the other hand works hard to change the truth and one example is of the sabbath.  It is crazy especially when you see the Ten Commandments all around and Protestant faiths defending the right for them to be everywhere, yet, these very same groups put Sunday up as the new day of rest.  I confess I did so as well, until I tossed out my Bible with notes and bought a Strong's Concordance and studied for myself.  When a word study is done about the Sabbath you will be amazed.  I mean if Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath BUT Christian churches have taken the sabbath away and replaced it, then has Christ been replaced as well?

Now I realize we are to find our rest in the Lord, but the actual sabbath still exist and we are to work six days and rest on the sabbath, just as Jesus did.  We are to walk as he walked
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:6

Jesus kept the sabbath.  Not as the Jews kept it(such as the Pharisees and Sadducee's) but as our Father instructed us to keep it.

On to the images.
Now if you are Catholic, this may not concern you, but it should.
Continue on as to why it should concern you.

In the New Testament we learn that Paul kept the sabbath.

Malachi 3:6 reveals that God does not change.
The sabbath was changed by Constantine.  It will only
take you a few clicks to research this for yourself.

Over the years Catholic leaders have shared the power and ability that
they have on how the sabbath was changed.

Tradition has been established and to suggest anything other to most
professing Christians always results in me being told that I am bordering on
or actually am a legalist.

I am going to say that I am a Bible believer.  I am not Jewish yet I am grafted into Israel based on Romans 11, and of course Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

The Messiah came for the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and once we call upon his name we become his and belong to the house of Israel.  We are not what I was taught as a new believer, grafted in to the body of believers.  He tells us in Matthew 15:24 who we are, and because of the grafting explained in Romans 11 as in several other places are of the house of Israel.

This is a powerful amazing thing and I am thankful.

Now to those that are Catholics or any others that may disagree with me, please let me know using the Bible.  Where are we told to disregard the sabbath for the first day? Where are we told in the Bible that some things can be changed by man and that will be okay as we can find a spiritual rest in our Saviour?  I ask these things in sincerity as the Old Testament is filled with the Chosen people (the children of the 12 tribes and the stranger among them-you know Jacob's children oh and Jacob's name was changed to Israel), that disobeyed and were punished by God.

The Blood of the Lamb is not to allow us to sin.
The Blood of the Lamb is to cover us so we can tabernacle with Him in spite of our nature.
As a parent I expect my children to respect my rules and I certainly did not allow for them to break the rules because I was the adult.  I punished the children so that they would understand and learn.

We are needing to get back in His word and study to show ourselves approved.

Just a thought to close the post.

Happy Sabbath to you all and may you rest and strengthen yourself for the following week.

2015 County Fair Part 2

I entered several items in the baked goods division. Each year I try and enter things I have never made before or I will use a completely different recipe.  I do this as  a personal challenge to keep me on my toes!

My granola recipe~thanks Alton Brown (with a tweak or two),
received a first place and a Grand Champion ribbon in that category.

Also in the above photo, top left, I entered a nut sampler of
peppered pecans, curry almonds, and sweet peanuts which I filled in cone
shaped paper and put in a tin.   For this, I received a second place ribbon.
Bill loved the curry almonds and I will be sharing a recipe.

In addition, the bucket on the right of the granola is my
decorated not tasted entry.  I made a red white and blue popcorn
tin, decorated with Americana fabric, woven fabric, and an American
flag.  For the record, the popcorn tasted delish.  I made it with sugar
like a popcorn ball and added the food coloring to make the tri colored corn.
I received a first place ribbon in this category.

It seems like many of my entries this year are blocked by
the name tag and ribbon~the above photo is my candy entry.
I entered citrus peeled candy.  I had never had citrus peeled candy
but I will be making this often.  I prefer the orange and grapefruit
peels the best, but the lemons and limes were wonderful as well.
I suppose the boiling three times before boiling with water was helpful
then adding sugar to the water and rolling the peels in powdered sugar
helped.  I guess I am a new found sugar junkie~well kind of!

I also entered herbed peasant rolls.  I modified a recipe I found
online to add onions!  I received a second place ribbon for these.

It's County Fair Time!

I love the County Fair. The world is moving so fast that something slow paced is a welcomed reprieve.  I discovered the County Fair since we moved to New Mexico.  Now I have been to fairs to include even state fairs, but I never entered anything I had made.  After moving to New Mexico and adapting to an entirely different lifestyle, I was pleased to have found a place that I could submit items that I had learned to make while transitioning to a farm family in the desert.  I also love sharing items that I have made for the home.

This year I entered a good number of items and have a few photos to share.

The multi colored oil pastel is mine.  Although I enjoyed drawing her,
I did not receive any ribbons for her.  When I enter, I confess I do love
the ribbons, but I also love that I can share new skills I have learned over
the previous year.

I made the menorah in this photo.  It is somewhat hard
to see.  It has a rock base and wire to hold the candles.
I received a second place ribbon on this.

I entered the hand coiled vase on left side middle.
It is hard to see, but it has a zebra on it, that I made stick out
from vase and its entire body is on the vase.  I made the mane
stand straight up!  I received a first place ribbon on this as
well as Reserve Grand Champion!

As a housewife of nearly 27 years, I have made items that decorate my home.  I love putting my touch throughout the home.  For the past 8 years I have had the opportunity to share things I make outside of the home.  It is a mini cheering place for me and I enjoy that even as anonymous as I am that my creations are seen.

This year I focused a good deal on canning and baking and will share in another post about these items as well as a recipe or two.
