"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Few More Photos

We saw many trail~heads the other day, but none as sorry or scary as this one!

Perhaps my teens have figured out that I snap a zillion photos while trying to be stealth. Hmm

Views From New Mexico

We drove to the other side of the mountain that the farm faces and here are some of the views we enjoyed!

The camera does not even capture the wow that we kept saying!

The white in the photo is the White Sands of New Mexico.

ps I love the mountains and the breathtaking views that I enjoy each and every day.

Friday Fun

We are busy prepping for our usual Black Friday activities: family time. We are going to the mountains to see if we can find the perfect Double Nickel Farm Tree. This year Fourth and I are going to make all the decorations and not use anything from our holiday ornaments. We have many creative ornaments so far and plan to recycle old items to memorable decorations. We will also have some traditional homespun decorations like popcorn strings and cinnamon apple slices-oh well when it is up and decorated I will post some photos.

For some Photo Fun

Fourth snapped this photo...can you think of the barnyard discussion after this? "Hey, the farmer is not as good as you think, I saw things, things that have changed me. I don't think Tom went on vacation, I think he is dead!!"

Farm wife black Friday Humor!!

Black Friday appropriately brings Black Surprise

We knew we had an early pregnant ewe, because we left her a while five months ago with a male while building a pen...and so we have a black lamb...can you say "Awww"

Afghanistan Thanksgiving

All of these photos are from the 10th Mountain Division on Facebook. I go through this site often looking for a glimpse of my son...and today I was so happy to see him at a table clearly having Thanksgiving Day meal!

Bill is on top right with his hand up. His buddy Nick Cates is across from him~also with his hand up. Nick's wife had their first baby 4 months ago!

I wrote about the cooks that prepare our soldiers meals on Tuesday and one can clearly see that it was important to make Thanksgiving "feel" festive and homey. Thanks once again to those that prepared such a wonderful feast!

Well how cool!!

When we gather and enjoy our family Thanksgiving, please keep these folks in your prayers. They line up often. They got in a line to become a soldier, they line up each and every day to eat, and they do so willingly~which is humbling to me. I am so thankful that I was able to catch a glimpse of my son today...

On the Farm

Yesterday we had a lovely young momma and her baby visit us on the farm! Jovahnni is almost a year(two weeks from today) and is adorable! He could not hold back his excitement over seeing all the critters on the farm.
Jovahnni looking at the lambs!

Jovahnni and Obed the ram and Tim the rooster (Fourth and Devina are also in photo)

Jovahnni was hooing...he kept saying HOOO over and over! I think that hoo means AWESOME! I had to tell Bill(who was not home) that I saw the farm anew today. I was able to see the farm in a toddler's eyes~fresh and lovely and wonderful! I cannot relay how totally invigorating it was to share and witness this little one experiencing a farm for the first time!!
