"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
Dr. Adrian Rogers 1931-2005

Friday Five

It is time for Friday Five and today I thought I would not use any photos.

  1. I did listen to the debate last night. I watched for a few minutes (online), then could not handle how embarrassed I felt for Vice President Biden, so I left the debate play on one tab and switched to read while listening.
  2.  I spent some time on Project Gutenberg last night and found this to quote,   "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," not only embraces the whole of a man's being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts. (James Allen )  I think it is spot on.
  3. Have you ever visited Shorpy? I love visiting and looking at the old photos. Last night gave me plenty of time to walk through time and enjoy the past thanks to Shorpy!
  4. It rained last night.  Rain is such a lovely change from our normal weather that I listened for a while to the rain on the roof.
  5. I am praying for our nation...I could write a million things about this, but I can't because it makes me so very sad.
