"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
Dr. Adrian Rogers 1931-2005

Simple Life

Life in the slow lane is perfectly fine with me.  I still am the housewife~yet, I have much more time to do other things.
I took up painting (on canvas) at age 47.

My craft room storage area
(the room formerly known as Fourth's bedroom)
This room has all of my crafty endeavors.  Some are
needs-sewing, mending and such, but the rest are for
my enjoyment.

My breakfast.  I have never really conformed to
the traditional breakfast of the US-whether it is
cold cereal or eggs, toast, and such.  I usually have
a bean, rice soup but lately, I am on a Brussels Sprouts
fix.  I cannot believe that I never had Brussels Sprouts
before.  I must make up for all those years of missing out!

The sign by my sink.  This is so very true.

Now for a snack that my mom would make when I
was a kid.  It may seem strange, but it is delish!

Take dried plums...four is the perfect serving.

Cover them in peanut butter

Then roll them in powdered sugar.  Seriously they are
amazing.  I do not really like sweets too much but this one
I LOVE!

We have a finite amount of time on this planet.
Often I share silly posts about my life and the simplicity of it,
and other times I am more serious.  The truth is that there is a purpose
to our life on earth. Our Creator gave us a handbook to guide us through
our days and if YOU would like a free Bible (King James Version)Bill and
I will send one to you free of charge. Click here to leave your information!

And the week begins

Ten photos from the Double Nickel farm files.   They are in no particular order but I wanted to begin my week smiling.
The kids with Bill's dad nearly 14 years ago.

The kids about 9 years ago.

I love this photo!

My handsome sons a few years ago.

The kids a couple years ago.

Love this photo too and am going to use this one as a before and
after!

My sons...love this photo too.

Waiting to pick up First from airport...can you guess where
he was stationed?

Almost time for the annual photo and this one was taken in 2006

Bill's mom in red,  aunt in yellow and the kids a few years ago.

About this time every year I begin thinking about the annual photo
and reflect upon the previous year.  This year the annual photo will
be so different from every other photo we have taken~and I for one
cannot wait.

*correction on title I had weeks instead of week!
