"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
Dr. Adrian Rogers 1931-2005

Clipping of first announcement of

my dad's death. This would have been in April 1967.
This is one of the clippings in the box I received the other day.  My mom must have clipped this, and unlike EVERY other news clipping she has ever saved and/or sent to me, this one is undated and without the name of the newspaper.

I am going to assume this was clipped with heavy tears.  It was the first announcement of the tally of those killed in Vietnam with my dad listed. It would have been a local paper and they were stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.

By the way~there is a mistake in this very brief article, you do not need to know my parents or anything about the Vietnam War to find it.
