"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Why I Understand

Often we are so wrapped up in our lives that we forget the harshness of the world that is predominate. For those of us in the United States, life has been so safe and comfy and cozy that we struggle to understand that leaders are not always working for the best of the nation. We forget that some leaders around the world have no care for their own people. We could care less about those that were executed under Saddam. In fact some Americans have compared George W. Bush to Saddam and even Adolph Hitler.

When I was almost 13 years old, I went on my first airplane ride(alone) to New York City to visit my mother's brother. Going from rural northwest Ohio to New York City was a profound experience but it wasn't the skyscrapers, the cement jungle or even the New Yorker accent that remains vivid in my memory today.

No, the most vivid memory of the trip was on the very first day. My uncle lived in the upstairs of a duplex of sorts, and I was a bit tired, completely environmentally shocked, but he was a bit stern in his voice and said "Jenny, you need to come with me and meet the neighbor". I was afraid, because my uncle was a fun, goofy, favorite uncle of the family. He was so serious that I had no idea what to expect. As we walked down the stairs he was so emotional that his voice cracked. He began explaining to me that his neighbor, an older lady survived. Survived what I thought?

Then we were at the front door and my questions stopped because an old woman answered the door.(She was maybe in her late 50's to early 60's) She immediately pulled me into her arms and hugged me. I had no idea who she was, but she was a love, and passionate about everything. She began sharing her story as we sat and she gave me wonderful cookies. She was Jewish, and survived the "Camps". Now I knew what the visit was about. I was a history buff, and the last visit with Uncle Larry I shared my studies of Germany.

My uncle said quickly "show her", and the woman raised her sleeve and the tell-tale tattoo was visible. My heart pounded so fast that I thought that they could hear it. My uncle then said "Touch it Jenny, you must understand". The woman took my hand with hers and she placed my hand over the tattoo. I broke down into tears, and Uncle Larry and the woman did too. The year was 1980 and my life changed. I understood that mankind was an oxymoron. Man was not kind. This woman was a teen during the war, and her only crime? Being Jewish, she believed in the God of Abraham, of Joseph and of Isaac, the same God I believe in.

We now live in a time where people do not believe the holocaust happened. We have rewritten history where the Concentration Camps and the 6 million Jews that were murdered solely because of their faith is hardly mentioned. We live in times where the UN openly supports those that suggest that Israel should be wiped off the map. We live in times where socialism and the common good are thrown around to where it is now accepted as a right.

Friends the government is NOT the solution. The government is a black hole that only gains intensity when more and more people expect the solutions to arrive from it. The more the government takes the bigger it gets and the more rights you lose. Similar to an economic meltdown, where at least half, if not more of our country is looking to the government for the solution, in Germany, the people looked to a charismatic leader to get them out of the rut they were in. We now are looking to a charismatic leader to get us out of the rut we are in. The Jew became the fall guy then, now in the US it is the wealthy.

Are you ready? All of us in the US are the wealthy! Dollar for dollar we are the richest nation in the world. We have the most of everything, the best of everything, and on and on. Government is working to take from the rich to redistribute to the poor. Don't forget Joe the Plumber. We are all the wealthy, so the solution to tax the rich is taxing ALL OF US. Forget the mantra, the word wealthy is the key and it is subjective. It is a slope that will continue to fall well below those that make millions, hundreds of thousands down to those making only thousands of dollars.

I understand why times are seeming to become more and more perilous as the President keeps on the massive spending and removal of our rights. I understand because of a sweet little old lady from my childhood, who gave me a first hand account of how a government can one day decide that some of its citizens are unworthy or unfit to live. I understand: Do You?

The Reality of the Situation

I have been thinking often of the Jews in Germany in the mid thirties. I am connected to Germany for several reasons. A young immigrant came to this great land in the 1820's, and he began the line of the family that would bring me into the world. He was from northern Germany but always wanted to own his own store which he did by 1830 in the US.

I was able to live in Germany for nearly 4 years because Bill was stationed there in the early 1990's. In fact we added two more sons to the family while we living there. No matter what experiences I had there(everything as we saw and did everything)I cannot never forget the reality of what happened to citizens of that nation.

Some Jews understood the times and left Germany in the mid thirties. I am sure that this was an incredibly hard thing to do, and in fact I am sure many said to them that they are being too paranoid.

As history has shown those that left Germany were justified. The signs were all there, and it is a horror tale that is sometimes disbelieved or even out and out lied about today.

Friends the signs are here in the US, not for the roundup of any religious faith, but of massive inflation. The stimulus package was 15% stimulus and 85% programs such as food stamps, birth control, science to be named later and on and on. The economy is not going to be stimulated. Already I have read on line that perhaps a second stimulus package will be needed. Where do you think that this money came from? We borrowed it from foreign investors. In fact China is the largest of the investors. You and I will be paying it back, but our grandchildren and great grandchildren will be paying for more than the money. Dumping money into a problem has never solved anything. Homeschool parents can testify to how little we spend for the gain we see.

So in times where inflation is going to climb, I suggest increasing your pantry as I have said before. Buy food, toiletries and meds. If you have a place to plant a garden, then buy heirloom seeds as well so that you can provide some of your own food. During WWII Victory Gardens most certainly kept families alive. I realize that many of you cannot have animals in your city or urban dwelling, yet rabbits are often considered pets, so I would consider getting a buck and doe, as many during WWII learned that rabbit was easy to raise and the meat brought protein into many a diet.

I am not suggesting you believe me. Our President has even told us we are in almost catastrophic times. Economist are talking and suggesting buying gold. The dollar is not going to be important in a few years(or much sooner). I think often of the wives of the Jews that remained in Germany. They probably were much like me, and convinced their husbands that the move is crazy, why leave all they know? I am sure I would have been that way, and then being in my forties would have ended up in the "showers".

I pray that the reality of the times are clear and that you prepare for you and yours. I am most certain that parents in Africa have horror stories about hungry children dying, but it couldn't happen here could it? Please remember all empires have a shelf life, and America is no different.
