"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

2015ish in Review

It's that time of year again. A time to look back over the year and reminiscence about events that happened.  I have captured a few photos from over the years-that came from the month listed to share the year.

Bill and Fourth looking well hat-tacular!

Love notes-quite typical for the farmer and his wife.

Yep.  March...

And April...

Best b-day cake ever!

Exact location of the Double Nickel.

27 years and counting

Character is from the inside.

I have no words...but the snake count this year was
8 of the 9 in the ever expanding goof troop!

Fashion is still very important to me.

Now I must confess that 2015 was an incredible year.  It was like 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014... all because these years passed by with my best friend, my handsome goof, the father of my children, and my love Bill~
but 2015 did drastically change how I see life~

All because of two grandsons.

Life is different and I am not sure if I can put it in words what I mean.
In a corny way, I feel as though my parents live on through the grandsons.  I feel
as though my dad lives on even though he never even saw me as a baby.  For me, I
am overwhelmed with an emotion I cannot describe.  I will close with this, I am thankful for
2015 because Bill and I are sharing a new stage of our lives.  I am a happy Gigi(my grandma name-combing maiden name and married name initials- GG) and love the life I have thus far

May 2016 be a year where we walk in the ways our Creator wants us to and love like our
life may end in a moment.  May 2016 be a year where we grant forgiveness as much as when we accept compliments.   May 2016 be a year of awakening and of awareness of the Hope that Our Saviour has granted.

Happy 2016 to all!

December 26, 2015

Writing on this blog has been sparse.  I confess I will write a post then save it to drafts~not sure why I don't publish.  This post is for someone that visited me the other day and we made salsa.  This person made note of my lack of blogging and made me aware of how important it is to jot things down here.

Okey doke-I will do an update post~

*Grandbaby #1 is now sitting up on his own and saying many words momma and dadda are clear and he seems to know that they are for momma and dadda.  Second, his wife and grand #1 went to Texas for a week.

* Grandbaby#2 is now smiling and gibber-jabbering too. He is so very happy and has blue eyes!  His momma and daddy came to the house yesterday for time with Bill as it was his birthday!

*Fourth is doing fantastic and was promoted in her job.  She went to El Paso with Bill and I Wednesday and we had a great time!  She came to the house yesterday as well.  We also went to movies the other day and she and I had a gamenight. It is crazy how much fun I have with her!

*First is also doing wonderful. He and his sweetie came out on the 24th to drop off a gift for Bill's birthday. It was lovely to see how thoughtful they both are.  First made Chicken mole' and rice, and his sweetie put together two music CD's.  First also came over yesterday and we played UNO.

Bill is working at the same place but in an additional capacity and that is interesting for him.  We are still slowly working on the house and finally he is my age once again (Yesterday) and for six months I am free of hearing that I am the old one! Then for six months I hear I robbed the cradle and the likes.  He does like to milk that I am six months older a good deal!

I am still me.  I love my kids and their families so much.  I am amazed at how thankful that I am that they are all here in the area and that I see them often.  I love that my kids seem to enjoy each others company as well, even if we are all lawyers when we get together.  I love that they all hug me and love me.  I love that they love Bill too.

I am typing this praying that the snowstorm expected isn't as bad as anticipated as loved ones are traveling today and I pray for their safe travels.  To my blogity friends, forgive my delay in blogging this year, next year I am returning full force to this blog!

Bill and First went to Las Vegas to bring back his dad for two weeks. One week his dad spent in El Paso with his Tia, and this week Bill's dad is spending  with us.  I grabbed the camera and took some photos of the generations as it is something pretty neat!

Its that time of year again

where I take the annual photo of the goof troop.  I am certain it is mighty annoying but for those in the world that may not have such a close sibling group or happy childhood memories, this annual photo is a place where comfort is found.  For my babies and their loves and wee ones, it is a place where Bill and I take comfort knowing the entire picture and how hard we have worked to be the family we are.  As we have gotten older, we know that it is entirely because of our Creator that we are able to be as strong, as loving, as firm, and as united as we are.

With that brief introduction here are the photos.  I prefer outtakes so for the blog more outtakes will be shown than the pics I will put up on the family tree wall (something in the works).
Yep. The annual sign as well! For the record, this is the
first time we have celebrated Thanksgiving in New Mexico
with rain and it is still raining.

The driveway was backed up with cars and the house
had this line up.  I loved it.

Oh and the passengers of the previous photo.
Grandson's #1 and #2!!!

Third, his wife and sweet wee one.

Second, his wife and wee one.

The preps of the annual photo.

First was taking this. Not cropped but the before.
Looks good for how many pics of laughing occurred.

The family room filled with family.  Oh and Bubboo...(you know)

The moment we sat the two down together
it was pretty neat to take pictures of the aunties, the mommy's
and daddy's taking this photo.  Well there were many photos
of the boys together.
I loved how excited everyone was to capture this memory.

These babies get lots of snugglies.

Cracks me up how stinkin' adorable these two are.
Love the piggly wigglies and the ever so large keds.

The babies took the show this year, as I think they will from
now on as we all talked about the next gathering and what they
will be saying.  As a news update grandson #1 said Mama for the first
time yesterday! Woohoo!

I am going to share a story as I close this post.  I went to the grocery last week and as I was checking out, I wished the clerk a Happy Thanksgiving.  She told me nope, she is done, 47 years of making the dinner and NO MORE, she is going to the hills 4 wheeling.  I told her have a great time, but she made me really think.  You see, to her the day was a burden.   I was sad by this thought.  For Bill and I this was our 28th Thanksgiving.  Maybe four times have we celebrated with family outside this group as we have lived so far from them.  We made the day important with games, fun, food, and pretty much just gathering with people who love us as is.  The past few years I have slowly been delegating to the kids part of the meal so we all share the load.  This year I did not use my oven at all and only used the burner for gravy. It was remarkably easy.  I used a roaster oven for the turkey and a crockpot for the stuffing and made a few sides and deserts, and the kids each brought much food as well.  We decided that next year the meal will be at First's home, and then down the line and back to Bill and I in 4 years.  No one should be burdened by spending the day with family.  I feel very sad for that clerk as either she did not share the work, or did not ask for help from her loved ones.  If one wants to learn how to cook, this is a great meal to experiment on with those that will laugh with you if it burns.  The day should never become a day of frustration and I pray that for the farm family it continues to be a day where we gather, laugh, love, and enjoy each and every one of us.

To First and love, Second and love, Third and love, Fourth, and the precious grandsons
Thank you from Dad and I,
You really do make each passing day one of hope and everlasting as you carry on

We love you so much.

No need for a time machine

as I can see tomorrow~today because of two cuties:
It takes but
one look.  One deep intense thoughtful look
in the eyes of a four month old~

or even a pondering glance beyond by a nearly
one month old~and I see the future
and it is wonderful.

Pole (Bob)Cat

On the far south side of the property near an old pen~
the dogs had a bobcat up on a fence post.

This is the first one we have seen in the daylight in a while.
Usually we see them near the front gates high up on the gate post
as the dogs are pretty good at their jobs.

Cleaning the air one

hawk at a time.  While I was driving the other day, I saw
a hawk in a puddle.
At first I was concerned that it was injured because
I drove up quite close.

Then I realized that the hawk was enjoying a bit of
a bath and thereby ensuring that the pollution caused
by hawks would be reduced~ shwew.

The hawk wasn't ready to finish

and only flew a bit ahead, perhaps hoping I would allow
for him to finish.

We had a sort of stand off.

I really did want him to win, but I had to continue on.
(I hope he pulled the plug on the puddle)

Snake Dog

Thena has proven to be quite the snake dog.  It's funny
how she will find one and then raise the alarm.  She has a
very specific bark and I end up with chills down my spine.

We have had many snakes breach the yard this year.  Two under the porch,
several in the grass, and one by the house under the trash can.

I had arrived home and walked to the trash can to toss a water
bottle out.  Thena was crazy doing her snake bark and Millie would not let
me go near the can.

I called my knight.  Yep.  I call him for all
of my snake issues.  I confess I have taken care
of snakes, when I needed to, but I prefer not being
the one to handle them as they scare me ever so much.
My Bill can make it to the farm in warp speed when I call.
The above picture is the snake as he was ready to strike when
Bill took care of it.

A silly thing about discovering a snake is that I cannot
leave sight of the snake until it is removed.  It is a horrible ten to
fifteen minutes but I am more creeped out about where the snake
may go...so Bill thanks for your timely arrival!

This was the thickest snake we have seen on the farm
and tied for the longest.

It had the largest rattle of any that have made it to
the Double Nickel Farm science museum.

Now to Thena, I am thankful that we listen to the warning
that she gives us.  She is an incredible desert dog and loves
the farm life.

Now I know

why Bill and I are together.  I mean, I am a cornball~sappy, romantic, believer that love can happen at first sight and on and on.  I never really considered Bill to be corny like me.

Today I discovered the truth.  I was driving to town and a Marty Robbins song came on the radio.  I have never listened to Marty Robbins by choice. I do not know many of his songs (or any?), but I thought, hey I'll listen for Bill as Marty Robbins is one of Bill's favorite's.

Bill is every bit as sappy and corny as me.  After listening to My Woman, My Woman, My Wife today, I know why we are together.

We believe in the best in spite of the world.
We hope in the best in spite of the world.

To my bestest most amazing friend, handsomest husband, sweetest goof, and most charming of talkers...I am ever so happy to know that you are a corny goof just like me.

Art Class

As I feel like a kid again, I will share some things I have been doing in art class.  It has been a great opportunity to learn techniques that I never knew and I am definitely enjoying the time I spend there.
pencil drawing
One class I am taking grants me the choice on what I wish to learn.
I then try and create several items in that technique.
pencil drawing
I enjoy the simplicity of using a #2 pencil and often find myself drawing
pretty much anywhere.
tissue paper, marker, chalk pastel, decoupage
I used to read to my children the books by Eric Carle so
I wanted to try and create images like he did.
This is a kitty that I have since finished.

pencil and kitty
This kitty is in the way of a drawing I was trying to finish.

This was a drawing for another class that works in 2D.
I really love the detail.
oil pastel
Here are some fish I made.  I wanted
to create something very simple.

chalk pastel
For this project, I wanted to create a Lewis and Clark
style journal spotlighting various plants, animals, and such that
are specific to New Mexico.  I ended up creating nine pieces for this project.

tissue, pencil chalk pastel, water, decoupage
Here is another Eric Carle type image.  This one was almost finished when I snapped
this photo.  I really love that I can create things that I have thought about for a long time.

Now I have always crafted, but the time I am taking to learn new methods has allowed
for me to really create many things and I am pretty content.

I even made Bill in the Eric Carle style.  I will share that another day.
