"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

From the Foto Vault

Time once again for a bit of foto vault fun!
This is the before photo that I wrote about here.

This was for Third's 19th birthday that I wrote about here.
All four of my kids are in the photo...maybe only a teeny portion of one
but yep.

Boots and Fourth.  Pretty much her style
all the time!

This was a remix of a photo taken in 2006.
I am thinking this will be remixed once again,
but the spaces between the four will be filled with
new additions to the family!

Oh and with those boots Fourth wears, she enjoys olives.
Because of her olive addition I have a lovely spice set.

Not sure what Second is doing, but I love these cutie pies.

Another White Sands photo.

From the really old foto vault files.
My cuties with my Bill when he became a civilian police officer.

McGuinn's Pistachio's~yum.
Garlic are my current favorite!

It's amazing that my life is the life is it, because Sometimes Things Happen.

Because I live in New Mexico

For the many that seem to think NM is not part
of the 50 states...it is.
A bonus is that many New Mexicans speak at least
two languages!

This is very true for those of us in the southern part of the state!

Sigh.
My kids kind of resigned the bike fun to riding on flats.
No matter how much goo or green tire gunk we put in the tires~
the goatheads won!

ps...walking in the house barefoot after someone
forgot to take off their shoes definitely ruins your day.
One of the greatest smells ever...green chiles roasting.

And finally, if My Big Fat Greek Wedding
was remade as My Big Fat New Mexican Wedding
the father would have Tapatio instead of Windex!

Thanks to Sorry I'm From New Mexico on Facebook for
these images.

Here are a few more from the files of DN farm
Awesome sunsets
oh and the sunrises get you out of bed!

The mountains.
Wow.
I may not live in a million dollar house
but
I do have million dollar views!
ah the Mesquite thorn.
Be VERY afraid
as they hurt more than you are thinking.

New Mexico is very serene.
The hustle and bustle of the city is exciting but
the peace and serenity of New Mexico is incredible.

Aside from zoos or Africa one never would see an Oryx running
across the desert.  In NM you have this unique opportunity AND
you also can put in for an Oryx tag and fill your freezer with one!

I love New Mexico.  I cannot imagine living anywhere else
but in truth NM is the best because I am with those I love ever so dearly.

 The End!

Not forgotten

Our nation has Memorial Day set aside to remember those who died while serving in the armed forces.

The price is sometimes heavy.

And although time marches on, the families never forget.   Time freezes the soldier in the age that they were killed.

Yet the family continues on.

The weeks following the loss of a loved one must seem like
years.
But time marches on.
Children grow up.

I love America.
I am thankful to be living in this nation.
I hate knowing exactly what is sometimes expected
from those that are in our military.

No matter how old I get, no matter how much time passes
by, I am, and always will be the baby that was born too late.
The reality of Memorial Day is that in perhaps the next year or so
I will become a grandmother...but in my heart, I am always the little girl
that wishes ever so much that she was a daddy's little girl.

As for the photo of the children and mom...
 The update is this.

At least there wasn't an ambulance but

two fire trucks and a deputy sheriff showed up~with lights and sirens blaring!

First off, no one was injured.

Second off, there wasn't any emergency.

Friday was a pretty special day for Second and he included Bill and I in his day!
Pictures were taken.

Tears were shed.

Strangers met and joined for a lifetime.

All because...

Second dropped to one knee!

Second pulled off such a romantic proposal!   He asked his Fire Chief if the department could bring the engagement ring to the park for his proposal.  What Second didn't realize is that the department would come with a ladder truck AND a second truck filled with several of Second's coworkers all dressed in their bunker gear.

Oh the fire trucks pulled into the park with lights and sirens and that is when Bill and I appeared as well as the family of Second's sweetie.

She had no idea that the proposal would be so grand.
She knew Second was going to propose BUT
WOW!

Pictures were taken.  Fourth was the photographer!

Tears were shed.   Well of course, as I was there.  Oh my how special!

Strangers met and joined for a lifetime.
We officially met Second's to be in laws...including grandparents
from Texas!

All because...Two people fell in love.

I am a Mother

I am a mother, although I prefer to be called mom.  I prefer to remain in the sidelines in many things, but as a mom, I am in the front row!  My children are no longer small yet they will always my babies.  I could go on and on about how much I love to be a mother and in many, many posts I have shared about my children.

I have been fortunate that I have been able to stay home with my children all of the years that they were home.  I have seen so many firsts for each child and confess that I changed along the way as a result of seeing the world for the first time times four.

Now my role as a mother has taken a lesser position in my children's lives as they are embarking on their own journeys.  This is what Bill and I have worked for all of their lives.

I am humbled to realize that I had a part in creating my children and helping to guide them into who they are to be.  I cry at silly moments in my children's lives.  Now to the kids they know this, but I am always amazed at what will bring a tear to my eye.

Mother's Day to me, is a day I should say thank you to my children.  This day I think is a day that I  need to tell each one of my children thank you as without them this day would just be another day.

To my First, who I began my journey as being a mom, I want to tell you thank you so much.  You have brightened my life in so many ways.  I love how you love to take a pen and paper and create stories.  I love how you feel the need to be the protector for the others.  I love the man that you have become.  I love that your eyes light up as you share about your job.  And for the past year, I have been so thankful for you even more for your sweetie pie.  I love her.  At first I loved her because she loved you, but I have grown to love her as another of mine via her mom and dad.  I love you with her and her with you as I see a home building and that is incredible.  You are and always will be my firstborn child and for that I thank you.  I love you two forever and a day!

To my Second, who I truly expected to be a carbon copy of First, I want to tell you thank you so much.  You too, have brightened my days.  You taught me how unique each baby would be.  Silly, but I did believe that each of you would be the same!  I love how you studied the sign language posters and signed to me, before I had taught you any signs.  You were the one that crawled at 5 months and walked at 8 months.  I still chuckle when I think back and see those that were around us ever so surprised to see such a small baby walking!!  I love that you are so determined and when you wanted to be a volunteer fireman at 17 you joined.  I am thankful for your compassion and caring as a first responder to those that are having one of their worst days. I love the man you have become.  I love you ever so much and you too have brought someone else to the fold for me to love.  I am overjoyed to see you and your sweetie's love for each other and can't wait to follow you two along your journey!  I love you forever and a day!

To my Third, oh how you were our special surprise!  I am so thankful that you joined our family and cannot believe how dad and I had two babies 9.5 months apart in age!!  You have been our ball of energy from the beginning and you are our daredevil.   You taught me so much. You were a giggly baby that is the same today.  I loved watching you feed the animals as you used each pen as a different workout station and when you would leap the gates my heart would jump!  Every time I hang clothes I think about you doing pull ups.  I love how compassionate you are and I love the man you have become.  You gave me my first daughter-in-law and I thank you so much for that as I love her so very much and am thankful to her mom that I can claim her too.  I love that I am able to watch you and your love as you continue your journey.  I love you forever and a day.

To my precious Fourth, oh how I love you.  I cannot even put words to how much I love you and how thrilled I was that you joined the family.  You were a fighter and although you struggled at first, you never gave up.  My preemie you completed our little family.  You are such a delight, as you are s much a tomboy as you are ever so delicate.  You are so caring and you wear your emotions on your sleeve in such a way that makes me smile.  You love your brothers and their sweeties so much.  I cannot even believe that my teeny preemie would be the woman that you are today.  I have seen you buck bales of hay and then put on nail polish.   You have made me appreciate so much more in life and honestly you made me believe in so much more.  I love how gentle you are with critters. I love how many ideas you have for this story and that, and I love how the world looks in your photos.  I love you so much and can't wait to see the next step on your journey.  I love you forever and a day.

To my handsome Bill, without you, I would not be a mom.  Without you,  I would have never met our wonderful children and been completely changed as a person because of them.  I did not give up my life when I chose to stay home.  No...I found my life and who I was.

I am thankful to my children~ I am thankful to each of you for making my life the life it has been.  I will always love you and thank you each for giving me the name of Mom!
