"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

To be fair,

I haven't mentioned anything about the County Fair this year.  Wow.  Most likely with the computer issues I forgot to share fair news.

It's County Fair time in our area and hotdiggity dog I love the Fair!

Although our garden is far smaller than in years past we did enter
cocozelle, pattypan, rosemary, and chives in the farm division.

For the flower division we entered Hollyhock, Marigold, and Vinca's.

In the baked goods division, I entered round rye bread, biscuits, spice cake,
trail mix, peanut brittle, and carrot cookies.

In the canned goods division, I entered watermelon pickles,  pickled onions, dill
and cucumber relish, carrots, dried carrots, dried mushrooms, elk jerky, cilantro,
rosemary, spearmint, lavender, yellow yarrow leaves, yellow yarrow flowers,
mesquite bean jelly, apricot cranberry jam, and peach butter.

In the sewing division I entered cloth napkins, potholders, and an Americana

In the crochet division I entered a crocheted hat.

In the handcraft division I entered a gourd hot air balloon, a gourd goose

For the record...no rain on the first night of the fair although it thundered and threatened to rain.  I am going to share more about the fair in an upcoming post.

I did not get the best of photos of the items in the fair last night.  More about the fair soon!

Below the fold I have a neat surprise...

My peanut brittle was awarded Grand Champion of
the Baked Goods Division!
I cannot lie...I am pretty thrilled at this ribbon.
