"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Drive with Me

The other day I had to go to Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is 70 or so miles from home. I love the drive as it is so beautiful and relaxing. I pass many unique sites that I thought I would share here. Don't forget that I have written many times about "stay-cations." Stay-cations are vacations in your neck of the woods. Remember people travel from all over to vacation where you live, so why not take some time out and plan several outings locally. You will be amazed at what is literally in your back yard!

Please join me on my drive,

White Sands National Park from the road

Pretty amazing! Driving to Las Cruces is a lovely drive...

Beautiful mountain views...

Lyndon Johnson space museum water tank...

Water tanks need not take away from the backdrop. Every water tank in Las Cruces NM is painted

Beautiful mountain peaks

The west is vast...and driving provides lots of time to think, solve world problems, and of course sing where you are appreciated!

To go west or south from my home means a stop at the Border Patrol checkpoint upon my return. Slowing down for the checkpoint.

All traffic must pull over to the Border Patrol Checkpoint

Here is what I see while driving up to the checkpoint.

Yep, it is dry and dusty here.

This time it took a bit longer to go through, because the semi with the cars on it, was being checked- and each car was checked. When I pull forward, I must stop at the agent- who ask if I am an American citizen. The rogue person in me wishes sometimes to say, "no."

After the Border Patrol checkpoint, I pass Holloman Air Force Base.

Once I pass the base I am nearly home. Thanks for going on the drive for me, next time don't be shy and sing out when I sing Proud to be an American, by Lee Greenwood!
