"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

We Grow Diet Potatoes!

We had a cold snap and I forgot to bring in our bucket potatoes, so they froze. No problem, this grand harvest if washed and served by Jenn*y Cra*ig would cost you several dollars and you would not have an overload in calories.

So offshoot of the gardening, perhaps a Diet Patch!

When life gives you lemons teeny potatoes, makelemonade a diet dinner!

Oh, this reminds me of another of my mom's stories of the Depression: Their boss had some potatoes that froze, but as long as you boiled them before they thawed and turned black, they were fine; they left them out in the cold and used them little by little.

They had lots of potatoes until a thaw came.

Donna- I believe that we will soon be accepting foods that before we would have tossed out. Well for sure those who are not preparing.
