"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Can You Believe This Mural?

{Recycled photo from 12-07 as camera is deceased}
This is what I see from my front porch. I have been reading lots and lots about living a life more simple, and less high paced. At first when I began this farm life, I got down, as I most certainly am not living as most are...yet I have come to an incredible conclusion...we are most blessed to have slowed down. Look at this lovely mountain!

Becoming one who is less reliant on the world and more reliant on Him is most certainly a battle, because well, I am a 21st century American, and boy have I become accustomed to STUFF.

Fortunately He has left a simple descriptive guide of how to live. We can ignore it, deny it, accept it, or live it.

I am so thankful that on this path that I thought was something hard and most challenging, has become an illumination of Him. I cannot look anywhere without seeing Him. I am humbled and in awe and speechless many times a day. I am thankful that on this journey I am not alone. Of course I know that He will never leave me nor forsake me, but my husband and children are aside me, enjoying this simple life we have been blessed with.

Do we know what tomorrow will bring? Of course not, but we do know what eternity will bring, and are ready.

I pray that each of you looks around to see Him. For me, simple peace is living where I see Him in His creation and for that I am ever so thankful.

Beauty is all around us, if we just take the time to "see" it and appreciate it as being a gift from Him, which it is.
